Joseph Beryle, a hero of two armies.

Joseph Beyrle Robert (Joseph Robert Beyrle, 1923-2004) - American paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division. During the Normandy landings in June 1944, was captured. For the next seven months, Beyrle was held in seven different German prisons. He twice tried to run, but both times unsuccessfully. The third flight, in early January 1945, from the camp near the river Oder was successful. Leaving the east, two weeks wandering Byerly came to the Soviet tank battalion of the 2nd Belorussian Front. Refused the offer of evacuation to the rear, Joseph persuaded the Soviet command to allow him to join the ranks of the 1st Guards Tank Brigade, within which he fought for a month, until he was wounded. While Beyrle was in the hospital, he met with Marshal Zhukov, who helped him get to Moscow, and then return to the United States.

Church of the Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary - the unique church architecture of ancient wooden architecture of the North-West of Russia XVIII century, founded in 1708, lost (burned) in 1963.

According to legend, the design of the church was made by Peter I, who himself has repeatedly visited this cathedral. Information about builder of the temple is not available. Original Intercession Church  was located at the village Anhimovo,  Vytegorsk churchyard of Olonets province (now the Vologda region). Church burnt down in 1963.

The people call the project "St. Petersburg Kizhi" - a remake of the temple, whose foundation October 4 consecrated Metropolitan Volodymyr (Kotlyarov), reminds of a famous ancient northern masterpiece - Transfiguration Church. Today Protection Church is the largest, it is bigger than famous church in Kizhi. 25-domed Protection Church has a height of 43.5 meters. 22-domed Transfiguration Church at Kizhi height of 37 meters.

The temple is attributed to the parish of the Ascension (Sophia) Cathedral in Tsarskoye Selo, its abbot appointed the dean of the Tsarskoye Selo Deanery of St. Petersburg Diocese Moscow Patriarchate Archpriest Gennady Zverev.

ZFS test suites.

Sun выложил тестовые сюиты для ZFS на OpenSolaris.org, о чём говорится в сообщении на форуме в opensolaris.org. Также появился подраздел в ZFS community посвященный ZFS testsuite. Для того, чтобы воспользоваться этой сюитой и посмотреть на то, как тестируется скорость доступа, работа с iscsi и многое другое, потребуется установить пакеты STF (Solaris Test Framework), Checkenv и Runwattr.
